As always, another home run…

The lesson we can learn from the list is that we have to be involve and be engaged. I heard someone say once, you have to sit a long time next to a river before a duck flies into your mouth (or something like that). The point being that if one is not engaged with a community, the community won’t engage you.

Hi Kristin,

Yes! Follow-up phone calls are an excellent way to get the community buzzing about a practice's amazing customer service. Thanks for the addition to the list.

Best wishes,

Mary Pat

Great article Mary Pat. One more great way to build word of mouth referrals is to make follow up phone calls. This makes a physician stand out from the pack. Patients are usually so surprised and thrilled that they rave about it to their friends.

#1 and #50 go a long way by themselves, but do them together and you'll get even more mileage out of the other 48. #30 could probably expand into a "50 Ways List" in itself. I like posts like this because it reminds us that there are so many ways to work on referral development. But perhaps the biggest message is that there's seldom that "one thing", that "home run" that ends up being the answer to developing a patient following. Rather, it's a whole series of small things that tend to get the job done.

Thank you for the post.
