Thank you for this exhaustive list. Great to see that my practice uses many of these techniques. Even better to see all of the methods that we are not using. Now we have new ideas about how to spice up ourr marketing.

Great article with a ton of good information! I thought our product would be relevant to this topic since several of our client practices have been able to eliminate an entire staff position by using our system. It's called RegisterPatient and allows patients to complete their registration paperwork online from home on their computer. Office staff can also pre-verify insurance instantly. Makes for a very efficient office!

Hi Kathy,

Thanks very much for your comment. I would be interested in hearing more about your product and understanding its ROI. There are different answers for different practices and whether a practice would chose the answering machine/voice mail solution or a product such as Pronto Connections would depend on the needs of the specialty and the culture of the practice.

Feel free to contact me at marypatwhaley@gmail.com.

Best wishes,

Mary Pat

Hello Mary Pat,
I would like to comment on tip # 99. Traditional answering services are outdated and moving to a different type of call center service CAN decrease overhead and increase revenue. At Pronto Connections, we work with practices to improve the flow of communication with overflow and after hours service. We actually improve coverage and lower overhead costs with less receptionists hours or other staff being pulled to "cover the phones". Also, we have the technology to schedule and cancel appointments after hours, provide physician referral services and first call resolution of billing questions. With this in mind would you consider revising your tip #99? It would be great to talk more about our specific services.

Thank you for your blog and great opportunity to discuss ways to assist practice managers.
Best,
Kathy Kantner

Hi Mary Pat,
Great article and blog. I can think of at least one other thing that can help practices increase cash flow. I see that Michael Glass of my company,Transworld Systems has already extolled the benefits of our system that has been developing and utilizing new technology for the past 40 years!!. We are a flat rate, (as opposed to a % agency) in house, the practice management has complete control over starts, stops, suspensions and payment arrangements. We are endorsed by such medical luminaries as MGMA as well as many other health care associations, and organizations, on a national level HealthSouth, and Athena Health- the medical software giant. Our whole focus is to get the money for the practice and keep the patient through the use of a diplomatic internally controlled system. I would love to hear from you and see if we could possibly work together. I would love to learn more about you and your career and to see if we hae any other connecting areas of mutual concern.
Best regards,
Elizabeth Houser
